Short answers. For the full picture, read [Upgrading to V2](/upgrading-to-v2). Developers should also read [Upgrading to V2: for developers](/upgrading-to-v2/developers).

## Will I lose my settings?

No. CartPops migrates your supported V1 settings to V2 the first time WordPress loads after the update. It does not delete or change your V1 settings, and it saves a read-only snapshot of them before it migrates anything. If a value cannot be converted safely, CartPops keeps the original, leaves it out of V2 and shows a warning notice.

## Do I need to export my settings first?

You do not need to for the migration to work. Do take a full database and files backup before you update. That backup is what makes a complete rollback possible.

## Can I update from the Plugins screen?

Yes for CartPops Free, which updates from WordPress.org. CartPops Pro updates through Freemius and needs an active license. See the [upgrade steps](/upgrading-to-v2#upgrade-steps).

## My host runs PHP 8.0. What should I do?

V2 needs PHP 8.1 or newer, WordPress 6.5 or newer, WooCommerce 9.0 or newer, and MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 10.11. Ask your host to move you to PHP 8.1 or newer before you update, and stay on V1 until then. Do not copy V2 onto an older PHP version to work around WordPress. See [Requirements](/upgrading-to-v2#requirements).

## Can I run CartPops Free and CartPops Pro at the same time?

No. If both are active, CartPops pauses itself and shows an admin notice. It does not deactivate either plugin or change your data. Deactivate one edition and reload the page.

## I used the popup or the bar. What happens now?

Both were beta, Pro-only presentations and are retired. A store that had either one set now gets the drawer. The Pro **Smart Bar** inside the drawer is a different feature and stays.

## What replaced the assistant?

In CartPops Pro, a **Calculate shipping** section inside the drawer replaces the V1 assistant overlay. Your V1 setting for showing it carries over. See [Shipping calculator](/guides/shipping-calculator).

## My V1 automation or upsell rules stopped working

V1 Pro rules are retired. V2 does not run them or convert them, and the data stays in your database untouched. CartPops shows a notice saying so. To offer something similar, set it up again with the V2 Pro features, such as the Smart Bar, shipping meter reward tiers and the Bundle Builder. They are separate features, not one-to-one replacements.

## The drawer opens from shop pages but not from the product page

On a classic theme, check that **Add to cart on product pages without reloading** is on under **WooCommerce** > **CartPops** > **Advanced** > **General**. With it off, the product page reloads and the drawer stays closed. Some products always reload the page, such as products with a file upload field and external or grouped products. See [The drawer does not open](/troubleshooting/drawer-not-opening).

## A menu item or button with `cpops-toggle-drawer` does nothing

The class no longer works as a trigger. It is only a styling class on the CartPops launcher. Use a CartPops launcher (floating, shortcode or a `cpops-cart-menu-item` menu item), or have a developer dispatch the `cartpops:open` event. See [Open the drawer from a custom button](/upgrading-to-v2/developers#open-the-drawer-from-a-custom-button).

## My custom JavaScript stopped running

V2 never runs the V1 **Custom Javascript** field. It stores what you saved, but does nothing with it. Most V1 snippets used `CartPops.drawer`, which no longer exists. A developer can rewrite them with the [V2 events](/upgrading-to-v2/developers#javascript-api).

## Does my custom CSS still work?

It is kept and loads after the CartPops styles. Many V1 class names and the V1 color variables on `:root` still work. Rules that depend on V1 element IDs or on how deeply elements were nested may stop matching. Test it on desktop and mobile.

## My shipping meter no longer shows free shipping

V2 reads the free shipping goal from WooCommerce: a **Free shipping** method with a minimum order amount in the shopper's zone. A custom amount from V1 can raise that goal but cannot create one. Add a Free shipping method with a minimum amount to the zone. See [Free shipping progress bar](/guides/free-shipping-progress-bar).

## My WPML translations of the shipping meter text are missing

V2 registers those strings under new names, so translations stored under the V1 names do not carry over. Scan and translate the strings again in WPML. See [WPML](/troubleshooting/wpml).

## Is my theme's template override still used?

No. V2 does not read a `cartpops` folder in your theme. The folder does no harm, but its changes no longer apply.

## Can I go back to V1?

Yes, with limits. Your V1 settings are untouched, so putting the V1 plugin files back lets V1 read them. Changes you made in V2 do not carry back, and V1 rules are not promised to run again. For a full rollback, restore your pre-upgrade database backup and the V1 plugin files together. See [Rolling back](/upgrading-to-v2#rolling-back).

## Where do I get help?

Start with [CartPops stopped after upgrading](/troubleshooting/stopped-after-upgrading) and [Caching](/troubleshooting/caching). If a migration notice stays after a reload, contact support and include the notice text.
