Shipping calculator
Let shoppers enter a destination in the cart drawer, see the shipping options and choose one before checkout.
The shipping calculator adds a Calculate shipping section to the cart drawer. Shoppers enter where they live, see the shipping options WooCommerce offers for that address, and pick one. The drawer updates the shipping line and the total. It saves them from finding out the shipping cost at checkout.
Turn it on
In wp-admin, go to WooCommerce > CartPops > Drawer and open the Shipping meter tab.
Under Display, switch on Enable shipping calculator.
Click Save Changes.
The setting sits on the Shipping meter tab, but the calculator works on its own. You don’t need to enable the shipping meter to use it.
What shoppers see
The section starts closed under the heading Calculate shipping. When they open it, shoppers fill in:
- Country / Region
- State / County, shown as a list for countries where WooCommerce has states, or a text field otherwise
- City
- Postcode / ZIP
Then they click Calculate shipping. The drawer shows a Shipping options list with the available rates. When a shopper picks one, the drawer confirms with “Shipping method updated.” and refreshes the totals.
If WooCommerce has no rate for the address, the drawer says “No shipping options are available for this address.” If something goes wrong, it asks the shopper to try again.
Good to know
- The calculator only shows up when the cart needs shipping. It stays hidden for carts that hold only virtual or downloadable products.
- The countries in the list come from your WooCommerce shipping settings (WooCommerce > Settings > General > Shipping location(s)). A country you don’t ship to isn’t offered.
- The rates come from your WooCommerce shipping zones and methods. Set those up first. See Free shipping progress bar for an example of adding a free shipping method.
- If CartPops can’t read your countries and states safely, it hides the calculator rather than showing a broken form.
- The labels in the form are translated with the rest of CartPops. See Translating CartPops.
